Bed and Breakfast Inns typically provide a level of comfort and service far exceeding that of hotels and motels. While some hotels provide luxury suites with splendid decor, they frequently retain a sterile "hotel/motel room" feeling. Bed and Breakfast Inns are, first and foremost, homes. They exude a casual comfort hotels and motels cannot match. Bed and Breakfast Inns are family owned, and the innkeepers take great pride in their establishments. Inns are destinations in themselves. Guests select a specific inn to experience the ambience and character of the home. Therefore, innkeepers strive to provide every comfort and service possible to ensure a memorable experience.
The casual, attentive service you will receive at Fox Run is a delightful part of a Bed and Breakfast adventure. Your hosts, Kurt and Karyn, invite you to enjoy their hospitality, and can offer a wealth of advice about local restaurants, events, directions, history of the area, and points of interest. Fox Run is a historical home, and contains much history of the Sauber family and of early Rockford.
Fox Run has over an acre of lawn and gardens available for your enjoyment. Croquet, badminton, volleyball, loggers, and other lawn activities are available, or you may find garden seating and glass of ice tea more to your liking. Many of our guests have enjoyed early morning or evening walks through the quiet neighborhood surrounding the inn.You may wish to visit with other guests who are also staying at the inn, or take time to read and relax in the elegant neo-classic library.
Each season showers its special gifts on Fox Run. Spring brings Hyacinths breaking through the snow. Summers are full of outside activities, perhaps even a wedding among the rose arbors, or an exciting family reunion. Fall, clothed in spectacular foliage, brings Halloween and tours of local apple orchards for cider, spicy sweets, and gifts. Winter snows are beautiful when viewed from the elegance of the library, complete with hot chocolate or tea in hand. Christmas at the inn is truly spectacular, with a magnificent ten foot "upside-down" tree in the library, each room boasting its own theme tree. Every nook and cranny of the inn is adorned with the colors, decor, and aromas of a Victorian holiday.
Clearly, the amenities Bed and Breakfasts offer have few parallels in the hotel or motel experience. By selecting Fox Run as your "destination" Bed and Breakfast, you are choosing a true "Victorian adventure" that will provide cherished memories for many years to come.
